On Thursday, the University of Alabama and head men's basketball Coach Nate Oats agreed to a contract extension. Coach Oats salary will increase to $3.225 million annually. Coach Oats new contract will take him through the 2027 basketball season. "We are excited to agree to a contract extension with the University of Alabama," Coach Oats said in a release statement. The Alabama men's basketball team will take on Vanderbilt on Saturday at 12pm at Coleman Coliseum and will be televised on the SEC Network. The Commodores are currently 6-11 overall and 2-9 in SEC play. While the 8th ranked Alabama team is 17-5 overall and 12-1 in SEC play this year.
Also on Thursday, Alabama head Coach Nike Saban announced that Jay Valai will be the new cornerbacks coach for the Crimson Tide. Previously, Coach Valai was the cornerbacks coach at the University of Texas for the 2020 season. Before that he was the cornerbacks coach at Rutgers in 2019. "We are pleased and happy to be able to add Jay Valai to our staff to coach cornerbacks," Coach Nick Saban said in a release. The Alabama women's basketball team held on for a 77-70 win over the Florida Gators on Thursday. With the win, the women's team improves to 14-6 overall and 7-6 in SEC play. This was their second straight road win. See article below for game highlights.
